About Tommy

Tommy MacFarlane has had an interest in ornamental iron work since attending horse shoeing school in 1985. After graduation he used his spare time to develop his metal work craft and around 2000 he had built up enough of a client base to start The Tommy Works and begin creating metal works full-time.

After a few years he put his metal work on the back burner to focus primarily on his business as a full-time farrier, but he never completely left the craft behind. In around 2010 he began taking woodworking more seriously, and became especially inspired by the fusion of wood and metal.

Tommy now is able to enjoy his well-appointed wood and metal workshop at his home in Fallbrooke, Ontario on the picturesque Fall River, all the while maintaining a successful horseshoeing career.

What People Are Saying

“Literally the only place I buy furniture now. I love the fusion of wood and metal. No matter what crazy idea I think of, Tommy can make it.”

— Mark (Ashton, Canada)

“I recently worked with Tommy on a project. I have nothing but positive comments to say about the experience! Tommy was so good to listen to my specific requests, make suggestions, and in the end executed my project perfectly! I could not be happier! I am looking forward to having him complete more projects for me. Five star service.”

— Stephanie (Innisville, Ontario)

“We just realized that we have become collectors of Tommy Works metal art…it was an accident! One piece led to another as each one was so beautifully crafted and unique. Our latest is a large wall sculpture we commissioned to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We asked him to create something which symbolized the bond between me (Canadian) and Stuart (Scotsman). He wowed us with a beautiful maple leaf and Scottish thistle intertwined. It is perfect on the front of our house. What next?”
